Canvas is Army Duck Canvas that is treated with fire resistant & mildew/water repellent.  Also, the tent poles are sold with the BARK ON the trees, because the bark does not need to be removed, because the canvas does not touch them.  The tents are tied to the poles, so they will not tear or touch the canvas in anyway.
